Recovery isn’t a linear process. Leslie Mulcahy is Canadian, an unashamed fan of Celine Dion and she’s recovering from PTSD. What do you do when someone in a position of authority “asks” you to put yourself in harm’s way for a good cause. A split second decision and the unfortunate consequences led to Leslie living with trauma. For years her body was in state of trauma and this became her new “normal”. Often when we hear about PTSD we picture the armed forces or first responders, not our friends and neighbors, and certainly not ourselves – no-one was more surprised at the diagnosis than Leslie. Therapy, medication and education are the tools that have led Leslie to recovery.
