Si ma la cosa che ho scoperto stanotte ascoltando il podcast non ha assolutamente a che vedere con mio papà, è solo che mi è tornata in mente appunto perché è una di quelle cose che dice ma è così, ma veramente?
Ecco, ho scoperto che il Monte Everest non si chiama così perché è la vetta più a est del mondo, ma perché è stata chiamata così da un signore inglese che è stato nell'Ottocento il primo, come si dice, misuratore ufficiale della corona, non lo so in Nepal, il signor George Everest ed è una storia molto interessante perché questo signore sapeva benissimo nell'Ottocento che quella montagna aveva già un nome aveva un nome sia in nepalese, scusate in tibetano che in cinese e il nome significava 'dea del mondo' quindi già qua ci dà un'idea, lo sapevano benissimo che era una montagna altissima.
Non solo, ma io quando l'ho scoperto ho pensato "ma guarda questo questo deficiente che va lì fa cose" e invece no porello lui non c'entrava niente, non voleva che la montagna si chiamasse col suo nome, lui non c'era mai nemmeno stato sulla cima dell'Everest.
Però il suo successore, che era veramente un realista più realista del re, questo misuratore perito indiano, ha insistito per mettere il nome di Everest a questa montagna, addirittura pare che questo signore indiano ignorasse l'esistenza del nome in lingua originale.

Yes, but the thing I discovered tonight listening to the podcast has absolutely nothing to do with my dad, it's just that made me think of him precisely because it's one of those things he could have told me, but is it really so?
