Growing Up In A Single Parent Home Episode 3
Manage episode 293981076 series 2928419
We are continuing our series by interviewing guests who have grown up in single-parent homes. In episode 3, I thought it would be fun to interview my son Isaiah, who is now 15 years old but has been in a single-parent home (with me of course) since he was in kindergarten.
It was interesting to hear not only his thoughts but also his feelings on what it is like being in the home with me as the only parent. Though I didn't expect him to open up as much, he surprised me with some of the comments and reflections that he made.
Overall, I was excited and thankful to have my son on to really have an open and candid conversation about what concerns him at this age. We also talked about some of what worked for him when he was younger as he began to recognize that the family structure he has in was different from others.
I encourage any parent, especially single moms, to have open, truthful conversations with their sons to gauge where they are, what they are thinking, and how they are doing as it relates to them being in a single-parent-led home.
