The Side Jawn: today's show "In Da House " Dennis: Welcome to The Side Jawn. I am your host Dennis Holmes, the Ignoranthinkerspodcast himself, and my co-host is here, Sharon the Chocolate Girrrrrrrrrrrrl! Say it right Dennis! How you doing Sharon? Sharon: tells what's up with her. Back to Dennis. Dennis: before we start the show, rest in peace to NBA great and NBA Ambassador BOb Lanier who we lost at age 73. He was a Hall of Famer, averaged 20/10+ for his career, and from all reports just a great dude. Commissioner Stern appointed him as the first NBA Ambassador and he remained that. Bob Lanier can rest up now. Dennis We are calling the show today "In Da House" and we're going to talk about family make up and how you operate on some things. Dennis: Let's start with the parents in the household. Everything cannot be about the kids. You have to have your relationship tight to lead and raise a healthy happy family. So here's a relationship question: Relationship roles: Does SHE have to cook? Does HE have to cut grass and take the garbage out? How do you determine roles in your household? Do you ever switch up the roles? Dennis: You have heard opposites attract. Could be true. But sometimes differences can cause conflict. Which leads me to the question, is it important sometimes to do things your significant other wants to do although you do not like to do it? Why? Dennis: Relationships: Should you be on social media pages? Give passwords to each other? Look at phones? Know each other's friends? How much is too much? Sharon: Relationships: Date nights, regular time away from the kids and focus on you two. Important? Not? What does that look like? How do you balance this with work/life/expectations/responsibilities? Sharon: Let's talk about the children. Many arguments come up about how to raise them. Spanking kids: How many of you whoop your kids because you got because you got whoopins? Or do you do it because you feel it is what works best? Dennis: Are we supposed to MAKE/FORCE our kids to do what we believe is best for them or are we suppose to TEACH them the way they should go and love them if they go that way or not? Playing favorites: Are you a parent that has favorites in your children? Why or why not? What damage does this do to children? Into adulthood? Children in general: Why is it that we as a nation do not do better in looking after, protecting and nurturing our children? I see more being done for animals than children! (Chocolate Girl moment if needed) Dennis: Asks Sharon for final thoughts Sharon: gives final thoughts and sends it back to Dennis. Dennis gives final thoughts, thanks everyone for joining, mentions Talkurish Tuesday, closes out. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dennis-holmes/support
