Katie Elliott is a coach based in the UK. She created Little Challenges after recovering from a time of personal crisis - it’s based on the practices, tools and ideas that helped her turn her life around.
"I think there’s an idea of gentleness, so something that I’ve really learned from my own life and from working with lots of other people in the last few years is there as human beings we tend to be very hard on ourselves; we tend to set goals that are very ambitious and then when we don't always succeed it’s so easy for us to to be hard on ourselves, to be critical of ourselves. What I’ve found is that with behaviour change, it's worth setting the bar a bit lower than trying to clear it and building your sense of self-efficacy so that in time you can make a big difference but you get there by breaking things down into little pieces".
"Something that’s really central to all of the work that I do now is this idea of encourage incuriosity and I’m trying to suspend judgement for as long as possible".
"I know that I have to do something not because anybody else is telling me to but because I can feel that internal drive to do it and at the same time it’s really intangible right now. So I spent quite a lot of time looking for clues if you like, paying attention to conversations that I have with people, noticing the dreams that I’m having because I’m sure that there’s knowing inside me, in my subconscious that I haven’t tapped into yet so I think I’m going to be travelling for the next two years and that I will be travelling in many different countries around the world. I think the reason for doing that is because I’m very curious to understand what the concept of home and belonging means to different people".
