Charlie Gallagher wist zijn hele leven al dat hij schrijver wilde worden, maar hij wilde wel iets hebben om over te schrijven.

Daarom ging hij bij de politie om daar inspiratie voor zijn verhalen op te doen. Hij werkte o.a. als detective en bij de counterterrorist unit en schreef in die tijd veel van zijn ervaringen op.

Deze ervaringen verwerkte hij in zijn nieuwe boek: De stille vriend.
