Welcome to Pulp Nonfiction: The Paper and Packaging Podcast.

We’re here to explore critical issues involving packaging and the circular economy. Our guests on Pulp Nonfiction are going to include everyone from artists and activists to manufacturers and middleman; environmentalists to entrepreneurs to get their perspective to what they think are the most critical subjects regarding sustainability today.

Sustana Fiber is a leading producer of FSC®-certified sustainable recycled fibers. At our facilities in De Pere, Wisconsin (USA) and Lévis, Quebec (Canada), we are using automated proprietary processes to turn recovered paper into high-quality recycled fiber for use in printing papers, tissue grades and formed molded fiber packaging. We also produce EnviroLife® sustainable recycled fiber compliant with FDA standards for food service packaging. Greg Johnson, Host

Director of New Business Development Having held sales and marketing Director and VP positions with companies including DS Smith, Johnson Paper, and Whiting, Greg has extensive experience introducing sustainable paper and

packaging products to brands such as Starbucks, Quaker Oats, and Target. Recognized by Graphic Design USA, the Chicago Tribune, and the Print Services & Distribution Association for numerous creative commercialization projects, Greg believes strongly in the positive impact of responsible packaging.

Dr. Marta Pazos, Co-Host

A passionate advocate for sustainability with stints at Coca-Cola, Estee Lauder, Procter & Gamble, and the United States Department of Defense, Marta holds a PhD in Polymer Science. With her refreshing and unpretentious sense of style, Marta can explain even the most complex scientific subjects in an easy-to-understand, educational, yet fun way.

As a scientist, Marta has been able to develop and qualify (delete some) many innovations in product formulations, materials and decorations for consumer products and their packaging, solved some critical problems that unless corrected, could cause more than a headache and created formulations to protect navy vessels, improve energetics and the way that they are transported and stored. As a partner of a newly created skin care enterprise, she has been spending a great deal of her time concocting blends that while cannot promise miracles, are assured to create a transformation guaranteed to make you happier, with yourself. A native of Spain, she has lived in seven countries with very different cultures and idiosyncrasies. “I realize that as humans, non matter who we are and where we come from, we tend to have as much as we can afford, and that excessive consumerism has created a strain on our planet Earth. I believe that less is more, that I don’t need that extra pair of shoes and I can get my orders in as many packages as possible, or even walk to the store. We are all in this and it is our responsibility to do our part. Waiting for the next generation, the big corporations or government decisions to reverse climate change and end pollution will be our demise”.
