Hello friends! Welcome back to another episode of the She Did It Her Way podcast! I am so excited to be back with biz besties, Jacqueline and Minna from The Product Boss. This fabulous duo first appeared on the podcast in episode 332 on May 13, 2019. We’re going to dive into some of the changes they have gone through personally as well as how their business has evolved.


A Recap

The Product Boss helps physical product based business owners level up their businesses via marketing and sales strategies and they truly believe and understand that there's a different path to profit for every business owner. The Product Boss allows that space for their business owners to decide what works for them and helps them lift the glass ceiling they’ve set for themselves and to realize they can make any amount of money that they want to get the lifestyle they hope for.

They remind business owners that their business is simply the vehicle to their dream life. Whatever they're building, how they're living, what they're working so hard for, etc., is in an effort towards their dream life.

Being moms themselves, they know that dreams come in all shapes and sizes, each one being unique and different from the other. They help these business owners by bringing them into their community, showcasing to each that you can make as much money as you want, and live your dream life. Whatever that looks like to you.

They also often emphasize the importance of remembering that you should never rely on anyone who is an ‘overnight success’. Things happen, growing pains are inevitable and it is important to be able and willing to pivot as needed along the way. Just make it work for you.


Shop 1 In 5 + 2020

At the end of last year, The Product Boss launched the Small Business Shopping Directory and the Shop 1 in 5 pledge. The intention was to commit to making 1 out of every 5 purchases during the holiday season from a small business, even providing a directory to help shoppers find exactly what they were looking for. It was only intended to be a 3-month project, but here we are nearly a year later and with such an amazing response from it, they’ve nurtured it and allowed it to grow.

They have now hired a whole team dedicated to this project as well as building the platform from scratch. They have also spent around $100,000 relaunching the Small Business Shopping Directory. When they first came up with the idea, they weren’t entirely sure it would take off, but their passion was so great that they were willing to take the risk and to say that it has paid off would be a massive understatement.

The Product Boss has also grown from the inside, leaning into one another, relying on their team and building this incredible community of business owners and teaching them to lean into their community and tribe as well.

The tipping point for their business would certainly be when the pandemic hit. They saw so many people who were stuck and knew that was their time, more than ever before, to show up for their clients, community, students and audience, and that’s exactly what they did. They showed their own struggles, opening the doors to their own homes and lives, more so than ever before, and reminded them they were in it together, bonding with their community.

In the beginning of 2020 (pre-pandemic), they set a goal to reach $1,000,000 for the year and when they reached their goal in October of 2020, they celebrated in Minna’s Iowa garage (thank you social distancing) with a bottle of bubbly. When the pandemic happened, they weren’t sure they would reach their goal. But they kept showing up, and not just for the numbers, but for their community.

One of the biggest things they have learned is they are capable of things bigger than they have ever imagined.


Big Things To Close Out 2021

The Product Boss has a few exciting things happening to close out 2021. First, they will be speaking at the annual She Did It Her Way Summit (yay!) in October and second, they are hosting a holiday promotional challenge called Rock Your Holiday Promotions.

As we know, the most profitable time of the year for product based businesses is Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The Rock Your Holiday Promotions challenge is designed to help product based business owners kickstart the holiday season by helping them figure out what their promotions are, what they’re going to sell, what their discounts are going to be and actually help them build those promotions so that they're ready for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Having all of this worked out ahead of time will allow business owners to go into the holiday season fully prepared and confident in their promotions, and will also allow them to enjoy the holidays with loved ones. This free 5-day challenge is happening in September and you can get all of the details and register right here.
