Joining us today on the Hardwick LIFE podcast is Dr. Tricia Bent-Goodly. She is the full-time team clinician working in the space of mental health for the Baltimore Ravens. Dr. Tricia Bent-Goodley is an experienced, licensed clinical social worker researcher with over 27 years of expertise in mental health and trauma-informed care, systems engineering, and organizational leadership. Her research, administrative and clinical career have included a specialized focus on addressing trauma and violence with a focus on community-based interventions, culturally specific care and working with professional athletes. A primary strength for Dr. Bent-Goodley is that she not only has knowledge of trauma and violence as a researcher but directly at the grassroots level three career of developing innovative programs and clinical intervention. Dr. Tricia is a professor emeritus at Howard University and a graduate Professor of Public Health in the Howard University graduate school. And she currently serves as the team clinician for the Baltimore Ravens. We talk about: How is the modern athlete evolved emotionally? How are the teams and coaching staffs evolving? We talk about historical trauma, She takes us inside Raven's locker room and how their players dealt with and process the racial unrest in the social justice movements following George Floyd and Briana Taylor incidents We talk a lot about parenting with intent to not pass down some of the traumas that we may have experienced as a kid.
