Welcome to another edition of Chicken Chats! This week we're excited to chat with Aharon Sasson to talk about chickens and Archaeology work at the San Diego Presidio in California. Aharon is the co-director of the San Diego Zooarchaeology Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in Archaeology/Zooarchaeology from Tel Aviv University, and has studied faunal assemblages from the ancient Near East as well as from numerous prehistoric and historic sites from California. Aharon is the author of "Animal Husbandry in Ancient Israel, a Zooarchaeological Perspective on Livestock Exploitation, Herd Management, and Economic Strategies." He and Arter recently published their study on the chicken remains from the San Diego Presidio in the highly regarded journal, "American Antiquity."
