In this week's dialogue, we begin the discussion about the different ways that bicycles are treated on the roadways of the US. The dialogue was originally intended to explore a metaphor of the exclusion of the bikes from equal consideration by the rest of the society and the treating of those who ride bikes as second class citizens, in much the same way that minorities have been treated. But the dialogue soon veers off that course and into more of a discussion about the weighing of safety and accessibility. This is a much larger discussion than we could have in one episode, and the topic might be revisited in a future episode.
