Interview #65 | The Ethics and Consequences of Spirit Contracts (with Brittany Pagan Adkins)
Manage episode 382589847 series 3458374
When the “occult” is depicted in pop culture, you will often see a power hungry individual making pacts with spirits. In the movies, these pacts usually turn out quite badly for the magician. But can they turn out bad for the spirit as well?
Brittany and I delve deep into the ethics of spirit contracts. While not all contracts are bad, there are ways in which the practice can be deeply exploitative. Brittany discusses her firsthand experiences with entities, both former humans and other types of spiritual beings, who have been severely damaged by such spiritual contracts.
Brittany relates tragic situations she has helped to resolve in which spiritual beings have been left transfigured, disfigured, and imprisoned within a toxic power relationship for long stretches of time.
This discussion acts as an important reminder to not abuse one’s power as a spiritual practitioner, and to not use spiritual beings as a “means to an end”. We must always be careful about the effects of our actions.
But there is hope, as practitioners and psychopomps (guides to souls), we can help to heal these situations.
We also discuss spirits becoming attached to dolls, past lives in which we may not have been very nice, consent in agreements with deities, spending time with the spirits in your life, and talking with your spirits through Tarot and oracle cards.
Brittany is a hedgewitch, Norse pagan, artist, author, and podcaster. She is also the host of “Pagan's Witchy Corner”.
