In this mini-episode, we're talking to Yuliya Sivan a local youth who shares her personal experience with Trichotillomania, a mental health condition in which one experiences, "recurrent, irresistible urges to pull out hair from your scalp, eyebrows or other areas of your body, despite trying to stop" (Mayo Clinic).
Yuliya shares how Trichotillomania impacts her daily life, the pressures to "fit in" and how she uses Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to help her cope.
To learn more about Yuliya or if you'd like to take Yuliya up on her offer to chat about mental health, you can follow her on Instagram.
Thank you for listening to the To Be Honest podcast! We hope to be an open platform to youth and young adults across the Bay Area who would like to talk about their experience(s) with mental health and substance use.
