Although those characters that were sick or injured appear to be on the mend, the decent into dissension continues, as shots are fired both literally and figuratively. One character even is pointing his gun at anyone and everyone this entire episode. System: OpenD6 Adventure, from West End Games CAST: Jordan — The Game Master Aaron — Sam Feluge Ell…

We embark on a new mentally challenging journey with this run of A Penny Foy My Thoughts, from Evil Hat Productions. We're definitely going to stretch and strengthen our storytelling muscles on this one. In this episode, we read through the details and rule for play, while we lay out the first memory of one of the patients; already laced with myste…

Well, the animal preserve certainly hasn't been a dull place. What the characters saw as a respite, Jordan and other players had something much deeper in mind. The group appears to be coming apart at the seams, but in this commentary episode we discuss the methods behind the madness, and postulate how it all might be building toward something great…

Three main campaigns and about 2 dozen one-shots adds up to a lot of episodes, and some great stories. In this bonus commentary episode, we talk about a lot of our favorite characters, scenes and other memorable moments we've had on the show. We talk about some of the behind the scene things when it comes to collaborative storytelling, and even a b…

Things are looking really grim as the virus continues to replicate and present in ways that are unexpected. The team does what it can to stave off the attacks, but in the end, it's going to take some intervention from above to get a brief reprieve from the chaos. System: OpenD6 Adventure, from West End Games CAST: Jordan — The Game Master Aaron — S…

Leading up to the final, high flying battle in this one-shot, the cast get's a bit carried away with their use of alliteration and puns. But it all paves the way for some entertaining role playing moments as we pull out all the stops and use all our bag of trick to defeat a giant pumpkin... and it was ridiculously fun! Enjoy! System: Kids On Brooms…

With this episode, Elements of War becomes our longest running campaign, and we still have so much more story to go. This week, one particular problem spirals quickly out of control, mainly because no one is even aware that the problem exists... and it has put one of our most beloved NPCs in grave danger from the most unlikely of threats. System: O…

When the characters realize that they are dealing with magic that is way beyond them, some much simpler options are explored. But of course they don't come without some entertaining complications. System: Kids On Brooms, by Hunters Entertainment CAST: Aaron -- Aderick Lendra Jeff -- Argon Marks Jeremy -- Raphael Tanner Johnny -- Quin Bishop Jordan …

If the title is any indication, the characters have no idea of the chaos that is about to ensue. This play session also caught most of the cast completely by surprise as well. Alarms sound in the Animal Preserve, and some characters are on the run from the Androids, while others are on the run from each other. But despite the perceived danger, this…

As we begin play, the group is reluctantly teamed up to retrieve an item unique to the Bronx Magical Academy's upcoming Halloween Ball, only to find it has been stolen. As their list of suspects grow, we lean that they have a propensity to rush headlong into danger... well, at least one of them. System: Kids On Brooms, by Hunters Entertainment CAST…

Things are grim as the group enters the animal preserve. The illnesses are more serious than they had realized, and distrust among the group reaches a new height. It seems that this "safe haven" might only be a catalyst for some volatile reactions. System: OpenD6 Adventure, from West End Games CAST: Jordan — The Game Master Aaron — Sam Feluge Ellie…

We try out the third game in a series by Jonathan Gilmour & Doug Levandowski, which is all about kids at a magical school. In this episode we tackle creation of the school and out characters. It doesn't take us long to use our love of world building to create some zany details that will surely make this story interesting. System: Kids On Brooms, by…

Our characters were definitely challenged in this session of play, but we were as players as well. In this commentary, we talk about how although we love the non-linear storytelling method, it was not without its complications. We also touch on the dichotomy of the group coming together but at the same time being on the cusp of something that could…

Here is the conclusion of this one-shot series. The group escapes certain death and eventually reconvenes to track down Scorpus. But they can't do it on their own and get the help of a most interesting NPC that steals the show. We also give a brief commentary on the system and how it stacks up to other systems we have played. System: RISUS, by Cumb…

Barely, escaping the threats of the mountain, the characters complete the last leg of their journey on foot, making it to the Animal Preserve. But the trek is still not without some serious complications. As multiple subversive agendas start to come to light it is still unclear how devastating the ramifications will be. System: OpenD6 Adventure, fr…

In this episode we get to see how conflict works in this system; and there is a lot of it, both external and internal. In true 11th century fashion, our heroes battle knights and dragons, but with the futuristic twist of time travel. And when personal character goals complicate the mission, the door is wide open for more "high-flying", "by the seat…

We continue to unravel the mystery on the mountain, making some discoveries about or characters in the process. Some feel powerless, some show brand new powers, but most everyone shows paranoia and panic as things literally start to crumble all around them. System: OpenD6 Adventure, from West End Games CAST: Jordan — The Game Master Aaron — Sam Fel…

We embark on a new One-Shot Adventure, one that Jordan has wanted to play for a while. Get ready for story about aliens, space travel and time travel. Our characters are tasked with tracking down an alien who has been causing problems in ancient earth. Simple enough right? Not for Bone Throwers Theater. System: RISUS, by Cumberland Games & Diversio…

As the ship goes down the group is separated. In attempts to save those that are lost, we see two of our character showcase their skills as they were trained for this very type of situation. Here's a quick commentary episode on our play of Ten Candles. As usual, we dive into what we liked about the mechanics, character creation, and the overall atmosphere that the game creates. We also make some comparisons to other games we have played and weigh in on whether we'll want to comeback to this as another one- shot in the future. System: T…

We're finishing up our character focused episodes to start off season 3 with a look at to what the journey was like for Sam. Here we see more evidence that the trip wasn't a bonding experience for most of the characters. There are definite seeds of tension that will play heavily in future episodes. However, in the final scene, if appears that when …

Things really spiral out of control quickly in this episode. Despite successfully gaining a "hope die", most of the characters still fell short of finding refuge in the bunker. The end came quickly for some, while others put up more of a fight. But one by one, the horror of "them" was too much to overcome. System: Ten Candles, by Stephen Dewey Chri…

There was certainly a lot to digest in this first session of season 3, as well as a lot of "firsts" for our characters 2/3 of the way through their journey to the Animal Preserve. We comment on a first for the players in a different mode of storytelling. We really enjoyed the mystery and intrigue that this latest non-linear format brought to the ta…

With one candle out, the story continues. In this episode, there are glimpses of "them" in the diminishing light. The character frantically try to make it to the bunker, but there is loss of life and limb as several more candles are put out. System: Ten Candles, by Stephen Dewey Chris -- Senator Brightburn Jeff -- Vance Doolan Jeremy -- Evan Gilmor…

We focus on Archi in this episode, and we've got a flashback battle, along with multiple interpersonal confrontations. But despite how that sounds, it's not all "business and no play". Archi is so serious that the mood somehow magically overflows into moments of comedy. We had a lot of fun in this episode. Enjoy! System: OpenD6 Adventure, from West…

Julian's got some pretty jagged puzzle pieces to put together on the journey, and the picture that is being revealed is quite jaded. Or is that just his interpretation? He makes the rounds, hoping to get everyone prepared for the change that is coming. In the final scene, we get a glimpse that there will be trouble as they cross the mountains. But …

We wrap up this one-shot as one by one the characters meet their demise, but some refused to got down with out a fight. We also spent a few moments on a brief commentary on the game. In this episode, one of our characters is captured, while the others are still on the run. But where they are running to seems to be a point of contention. One is seeking adventure, another reinforcements, and another... food. Where exactly they'll end up is still up in the air, but one thing for certain is that they are all scared out of their min…

We start off season 3 with a trek across the frozen tundra of North Bellasaira. For the next few episodes we'll take a close look at each character's perspective on the journey. First up, we have Chime North, eager to take advantage of his perceived freedom. But he still has a lot to learn apparently. System: OpenD6 Adventure, from West End Games C…

More crazy details are revealed, but that doesn't shed too much more light on the nature of this horrific mystery. Who knew that a chat with your friendly neighborhood TV repairman could land you back in the hospital. And it wouldn't be a horror story if one character didn't carelessly return the the original scene... after dark... alone. System: C…

In this commentary episode, we put a bow on this enjoyable second season of the campaign. The characters head into uncharted territory, and so does the podcast; as we talk about planning for a 3rd season in this story. The setting will be quite different, and it sounds like the mode of story telling might take a new form or two as well. We are exci…

When the investigation goes awry, all the usual places one would go to for help don't yield and beneficial results. Neighbors are reluctant to get involved, the hospital is dragging its feet, and the cops aren't taking the report seriously. But who could blame them when the details are told by a fiction writer. System: Cthulhu Dark by Graham Walmsl…

Of course, there is more horror to come than what was in the actual news report. System: Cthulhu Dark by Graham Walmsley CAST: Aaron — Jason Dalton Ellie — Bonn Bolt…

A narrow escape and a quick trip back to the hideout... but not for long. Everyone agrees, staying in the city is no longer an option with another council member dead. They hatch a plan that will ensure their escape and most certainly turn the entire city on it's ear. System: OpenD6 Adventure, from West End Games CAST: Jordan — The Game Master Aaro…

Jordan picks up a new one-shot via a Kickstarter for us to play, Cthulhu Dark. This fits our gravitation toward our usual dark and spooky stories. We’ll create our characters, come up with some interesting backstories, and by the end of the episode Jordan says “The victims will should be ready.” System: Cthulhu Dark by Graham Walmsley CAST: Aaron —…

The group squares off with another council member. This time a couple of our characters are in grave danger. This crazy scene is all topsy-turvy, for even our dice rolls, as a character with the best of intentions misses with an epic roll, but the unassuming character with ulterior motives seems to save the day (for now) with a less than stellar ro…

Here's a quick commentary on our play session of Lasers & Feelings. We talk about the mechanics of the games system and what tweaks we would explore to give more room to all aspects of the game. We also make comparisons to other one-shots we have run, such as Fiasco, Inspectres, and Star Wars. All said and done, we enjoyed it, and hope you did as w…

The group tries to get some inside info on the Fire Drakes and The Council, but the clandestine meeting goes sideways and it seems they might have bitten off more than they can chew. One thing is certain, life in Consiglio as they know it is coming to an end. System: OpenD6 Adventure, from West End Games CAST: Jordan — The Game Master Aaron — Sam F…

It's gonna take the superior technical knowledge and the ingenuitive quick wit of the entire crew if they wish to bring the story to a close in this episode. One thing is for sure, their plan could cause lasting cosmic repercussions for the entire planet. But that's a risk you take in letting the dangerous one come up with the plan. System: Lasers …

In this commentary episode, we discuss some of the looming implications of the on the spot roleplaying choices we have made. Not only do those decisions affect the story, but also how we play the game. We also spend some time describing how our style of play may differ from most roleplaying encounters. It's "collaborative storytelling" where everyo…

In this episode, you can really tell that we thoroughly enjoyed this part of the story as the pop-culture references were quite abundant. The crew takes the entire ship into the mysterious hole in the ground and ultimately find a little more than they bargained for. System: Lasers & Feelings - The Doubleclicks Tribute RPG (v1.3), by John Harper CAS…

The "Away Team" finds that the planet is much different than when they were there previously; particularly in it's population. Felix and the doctor work frantically on the ship's "goo crisis", and try to restore everything to working order for the crew's newly formed dangerous plan. System: Lasers & Feelings - The Doubleclicks Tribute RPG (v1.3), b…

A lot is revealed in this episode, about bout elementals and androids. It appears that some character's theories are correct. But even with all this info coming out, there is still quite a bit of confusion and dissension, especially when secret is revealed that puts everyone's lives in danger. System: OpenD6 Adventure, from West End Games CAST: Jor…

For this one-shot series, we enlist an All-star cast (just because we all have J names) for a fun, one-page RPG; Lasers & Feelings. Character creation goes pretty quickly in this game, then we get right into the story, full of mystery and adventure on an alien planet. System: Lasers & Feelings - The Doubleclicks Tribute RPG (v1.3), by John Harper C…

Here is another commentary episode where we take a look at some of the methods we use for this form of collaborative storytelling, and come to the realization that both GM and players come to the table with "plans" that often get altered before they come to fruition. But still each character (and even a couple NPCs) have their distinct arc that is …

In the final scenes, the heroes are inspired to come together by the most unlikely of characters. And then in the aftermath, most characters surprisingly get a good outcome. But in Fiasco, a good outcome often means just going back to the devil you know. Game System: Fiasco Cast: Carlin - Blain / Ro Sham Bro Jeff - Dr. Thaddeus Bartholomew Reece Je…
