Text “Do people even want to know about some of these issues? Because I think some of the meat production concerns, it's kind of like people would rather in some cases, I think some people might not really want to know all the nitty gritty. They don't want to know how the sausage is made. That poses an interesting question and challenge about how you communicate about some of these issues, when maybe there's a resistance among a subset of people who don't want to know more.” - Patti Truant Anderson This is the fourth episode in a special four-part series where we go deep into the food system with some of the brightest minds from Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future, an interdisciplinary center based out of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. One of the reasons that we did this series is because we're about to enter another four years with the Trump administration; and last time, as we know, the Trump administration was pretty terrible for the food system in terms of climate, public health, worker safety, and of course, for the animals. This conversation is with Patty Truant Anderson. Patty is a senior program officer at the center. Part of her work at the Center focuses on public opinion polling around the food system. These polls can inform decisions by lawmakers. The great news is we're not nearly as polarized as it might seem. There is a lot of hope in the results. ×Previewing NSD, Vince Marrow's worth, more, and more and more.
We talk about UK's offense, defense, and a look ahead to the last half of the season. Particular interest is paid to the quarterback, receiver, and nose tackle positons.
Kentucky sports talk about football heading into the bye week, early practice reports from the basketball team, and UofL's recent scandal.
First, we talk about our frustration level. Then we transition to talking specifically about the offense. Topics in this section include: Has the offense played poorly due to strength of schedule or because of systemic issues? The woes of the offensive line. The likelihood of Drew Barker becoming the starter.AND SO MUCH MORE! Second, we discuss the defense. Topics in this section include: Did the defense's performance against Florida signal improvement or was the Gators' offense that bad?The secondary is better.Denzil Ware has exceeded expectations. Third, Keith attended the game as a member of the press. He gives us insight on the atmosphere to include, but not limited to: tailgating, press booth, and the Cat Walk. We also ponder what's better: Shreveport, LA or Tampa, FL. Finally, we discuss out-sized expectations inflating capabilities, fans Tweeting players, football ain't basketball, nut jobs on message boards, and we wax philosophic on bloggers pumping sunshine - for the sake of web clicks - being a detriment to wider expectations. It's a topic I could talk about for days, but will avoid because I doubt many care about "inside baseball" blogging talk. Oh, and we also talk about Ryan Timmons in the last three minutes. It served as therapy for the three of us; hopefully, it does you too. We close on a positive note. Enjoy!…
Rather than make this post 2,500 words, I recorded some thoughts on the offense, being lucky, viewer mail, and a brief look ahead on one aspect of the upcoming Florida game.
Keith, James, Todd, and Will preview the season together. A Magic Eight Ball is also involved.
Talk about the virtues of redshirting freshmen versus playing them, some 2015 basketball recruiting, and Kelli and Glenn predict the 'Cats record in 2015.
Fall camp is almost over and there's lots to discuss. We talk about the transfers, running backs, Ryan Timmons, and which players we are most excited about.
In this episode, Keith, Will, and guest Zipp Duncan break down and preview UK's offensive line heading into the season. Zipp, since he used to play for UK, goes into great detail on zone-blocking schemes and what it's like to be recruited. In this episode we talked about: the job offensive line coach John Scharlman has done developing and recruiting the past two years, Zipp goes into further detail on the nuances of a zone-blocking scheme, the lack of depth at offensive tackle, what advice Zipp has for UK's offensive linemen commits in the 2016, among other things. Zipp also told a great Rich Brooks story, but my recorder failed me as he was beginning the story. I'm sorry about that (we'll have to have Zipp back to tell it again), and I'm also sorry for the way my cold makes me sound.…
In this episode we are joined by A Sea of Blue writers Todd Greenwell and Keith Garrett. We discuss the quarterback race between Patrick Towles and Drew Barker. We also talk about new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson, and how his presence will change the offense in 2015.
trying fade out intro with license free music.
On this week's edition of A Sea of Blue Wildcat Chatter host Alex Scutchfield is joined by Glenn Logan, James Streeble and Greg Edwards. The guys will talk about the year that was for Kentucky football and look at the upcoming trio of important games for John Calipari and the Wildcats basketball squad…
