Capt. Chip Wingo pulled double duty in the show host chair this week, joining Capt. Kirk to man the ship while Capt. Kevin continued to recover from the gunk. And what about Jeff? The big guy was fishing the El Cheapo once again! He checked in and the team hooked a sweet one while he was on the line…pretty cool moment, if you ask us. Scott Whatley also stopped by to hang with the guys to sprinkle some gunpowder and broadheads in all that fishing talk. Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Any minor rust issues can be fixed with Perma Blue Liquid Gun Blue from Birchwood Casey! Follow this link to get yours on Amazon for $10. Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: Make sure to join us at trollingmotorservicesplus and AquaTraction on March 8. There will be fantastic food and raffle prizes! Should be a great time! It’s been a week of weirdness over the past seven days, and it even carried over into this episode. Yeah, kinda weird to start the show off with Capt. Chip Wingo at the helm, but it’s one of those things since Capt. Kevin is under the weather with quite the weird little bug. But it doesn’t stop there – the weird temps, the weird weather patterns…and a bunch of weird guys to talk about it all this week! But just how weird will the forecast be for you this coming week? Listen in and find out… Facebook…

It was a labor of love for Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk in the wake of Valentine’s Day, as they handled show responsibilities. Jeff was away in Charleston, SC doing some OSR at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, commonly known as SEWE. As most folks know, Capt. Kirk grew up in those parts, so he had some insight into the town, the event, and all the great happenings there. Of course, there was a lot more to talk about than just SEWE, which means there’s a lot of good stuff to listen to in this episode as well. Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Always have a pile of zip ties on hand for so many applications. Make sure you keep in some kind of a container where you know they’ll always be! Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: If your boat has been sitting up for a couple of months please don’t just go hook it up, launch it and expect everything to work! Have your boat inspected by Atlantic Marine Surveyor or make an appointment with Atlantic Coast Marine or Waylan Bay in St. Augustine. They will go through the boat and make sure you are good to go! Here’s your Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week: Check your meat using the handy dandy ThermoPro TP19H Digital Meat Thermometer. Available on Amazon. Facebook…
With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, Capt. Kevin talks to the crew and gets their thoughts on just how lovely – or hateful – the fishing’s going to be over the next week. Facebook

The weather made quite the turn this past week, and the guys weren’t exactly happy about it. To be fair, they didn’t want freezing temps again, but they weren’t digging the 80’s at all. Turns out the warm weather brought out quite the zoo: they heard and saw turkeys, pigs, wild dogs, and everything else…and of course, they talked all about it. There was interesting stuff happening in the water, too. Did you hear about Contender, the great white spotted off-shore this week? That story spawned all kinds of talk from the guys and some callers. Sharks just have a way of gettin’ things going, don’t they? Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: It’s a great time of the year to replace old stands and find new areas to hang a stand…many stores discount them this time of the year! Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week from Harley at CSS Fireplaces & Outdoor Living: “ If you have an iPhone 14 or later, they work as a satellite phone with free texting or emergency calls. I was out 22 miles Monday and was texting my wife. You can text Towboat also. Pretty cool! Just have to get out from under T-top!” Here’s your Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week: Make fast work of peeling shrimp with this handy tool – Maine Man Shrimp Peeler Deveiner Cleaner . If you spent any time outside over the past week, you know what everyone was talking about. Has spring sprung already? Find out how the weather affected the fishing, and most importantly, find out if the warm weather continues for the upcoming week… Facebook

With Capt. Kirk out doing some OSR, Capt. Kevin and Jeff welcomed in some great guests to talk about some fantastic stuff! First up was Dr. Darrin Willingham, Vice President of Jacksonville Offshore Sportfishing Club. He talked El Cheapo, which is coming up in about three weeks, and he shared some great stories about his recent trip off the coast of Louisiana and more. Next up, the guys welcomed in Ricky Van Rickley and Eddie Zeilman. Ricky’s a former Green Beret and is now the Executive Director of Task Force Hydro 1, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting veterans through water-based activities (for more information, check out their page on Facebook . Well, after a brutally cold week of weather, Mother Nature chose to smile upon the First Coast once again! With some warmer temps, sunny skies and decent water, the fishing was…well, you’ll have to listen to find out, now won’t ya? Yeah, that was kinda mean. But hey – we want you to listen! You also might wanna listen in to the forecast so you can plan your next fishing excursion! Facebook…

With Jeff on vacation, Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk decided to have some fun…at the Jacksonville Boat Show! And being the nice guys they were, they invited Capt. Chip Wingo to join in the festivities. Good thing they were inside, because the outside was no place to be at all. After a downright frigid week, the headline was all about the cold, the snow, the ice, and everything else. But make no mistake, there were a bunch of incredible boats, motors, gadgets and gizmos sitting right in front of the boys for the duration of the show. Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: The water temperature is extremely cold and the fish are very lethargic. And live bait is hard to find. Captain Chip Wingo recommends Fish Bites, crab flavored as an alternative bait! Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: Come see us LIVE at the annual Jacksonville Boat Show ! Here’s your Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week from Captain Kirk: Nothing better than this recipe chicken and dumplings during this cold weather! Facebook…
It’s no secret it has been extremely chilly over the past week, but the big question for First Coast anglers is this: how does the cold air affect the water, and how does that water temp affect the fish? Capt. Kevin and the usual cast of characters talk about various fish kill reports and rumors, and more importantly, what’s going to be happening with the upcoming forecast to see if we get to see those fish keep swimming. Cold. That’s the word. As is often the case, the weather becomes a major source of conversation here on the First Coast, and this episode is no different. With a NASTY bit of weather on the way, the guys talked about all kinds of things associated with doing the outdoor thing in disturbingly less-than-ideal conditions. But even if the cold was coming, there was a great opportunity to warm your heart during the show, as the guys welcomed in Annie Tuttle, Executive Director of the Community Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation of Caring. One final note – if you listen, you may think this show stinks. Not because it was bad, but because the conversation meandered to a pretty brutal guano situation Capt. Kirk’s son encountered in the Miami area. No way to describe it here – you’ve got to listen in to believe it (and be watching Facebook for the pics). Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Heat Holders are a bsolutely the warmest socks you will ever wear! Get yours on Amazon. Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: Keep your eye out for post hunting season deals on hunting stands and other gear online and local! And don’t snooze or you’ll miss out! Here’s your Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week from Chef Jeff: Don’t sear but reverse sear that bigger piece of meat. It won’t disappoint! Here’s a recipe for reverse-seared steak that’s fantastic. Facebook…
So a new year has begun, and the fish of the First Coast sure do know it. It’s all about fishing the tides, hitting it early, and hoping for the best. Capt. Kevin gets into it all with the usual cast of characters. WARNING: you’ll get the forecast as well, and as a spoiler alert…it’s NOT for the faint of heart. Facebook…

So, it’s January, and that means two things: Jeff is done with his Jaguars duties (because they’re never in the playoffs) and is relaxing up in Georgia, and it’s time for the COLD. With those two things in mind, the guys talked about what they love, even if the weather’s a bit nippy. Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week f rom John Ganas at Circle K! The Lock’N’Lube Grease Buster is a big helper for busting right through some old clogged grease fittings. Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: SAVE THE DATE! It can be a little tough doing all the little things associated with fishing when you can’t feel your fingers. It’s been a bit chilly, hasn’t it? Well, that’s what Capt. Kevin and the usual suspects kick around on this episode…what do you do when the most likely thing you’re gonna catch on the water is a cold? Listen in to find out! Be sure to check out the weather forecast too. Facebook…

Welcome to 2025! It’s a new year, and so far…it’s proving to be quite the chilly one. The guys talked about it all morning, and how it affects everyone’s time in the woods and on the water. Capt. Kevin was doing some OSR, but he was on board via the wonders of modern technology, and we found out he needs to have his redneck card revoked! Why, you ask? Listen to find out the reason, and see if you agree. But the major event of the morning was the guys’ interview with Alberto Vanegas. Alberto recently caught a great white shark at Amelia Island! Check out his INCREDIBLE story in this episode! Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: The guys have raved about Hot Hands for a while now, but their newest product, the Lap Warmer , is something y ou’ll definitely need this week.
