Vicki Sokolik refuses to be an Ostrich. Her son brought to her attention the crisis of unhoused youth — youth unhoused, not living with a parent/guardian, and not in foster care — in America, and she has been fighting to support this vulnerable population every since. Most active in Tampa Bay, Florida, Vicki is the founder and CEO of the nonprofit Starting Right, Now, which removes barriers for unaccompanied homeless youth to cultivate long-term well-being and self-sufficiency. She is also the author of the new book, “If You See Them: Young, Unhoused, and Alone in America.” Vicki Sokolik joined host Jay Ruderman to discuss the many ways unhoused youth fall through the cracks in our society, how her organization helps them, and also how to build trust with people who could use your help. Quel and Rose are two friends who both identify as "sensitive souls" and use introspection to navigate through life. With this podcast (formerly known as the coffeeshop chronicles) they take their regular conversations exploring life, wellbeing and personal development from the coffee shop to you with an impromptu chat. The term "sensitive souls" materialised as a definition for our safe space of meaningful discussion on themes centring human behaviour, emotional wellbeing, mental health, spirituality and social issues. During these discussions we were able to uncover self-realisations and promote mental wellbeing and growth within our own lives, now we share these insights via a podcast with the hopes of benefitting others. Join our amateur therapy sessions where we explore our place in society and enlighten each other along the way

In this episode Quel and Rose discuss how they define womanhood within the context of women's experiences of sexism and violence in a patriarchal society. They introduce the topic by first sharing their experiences of Pisces season in March and Quel gives her account of a feminist event she attended during the month called "The Art of Consent" hosted by @100WomenIKnow.
