At the dawn of the social media era, Belle Gibson became a pioneering wellness influencer - telling the world how she beat cancer with an alternative diet. Her bestselling cookbook and online app provided her success, respect, and a connection to the cancer-battling influencer she admired the most. But a curious journalist with a sick wife began asking questions that even those closest to Belle began to wonder. Was the online star faking her cancer and fooling the world? Kaitlyn Dever stars in the Netflix hit series Apple Cider Vinegar . Inspired by true events, the dramatized story follows Belle’s journey from self-styled wellness thought leader to disgraced con artist. It also explores themes of hope and acceptance - and how far we’ll go to maintain it. In this episode of You Can't Make This Up, host Rebecca Lavoie interviews executive producer Samantha Strauss. SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't watched Apple Cider Vinegar yet, make sure to add it to your watch-list before listening on. Listen to more from Netflix Podcasts .…

Dearest Fellow Seekers, This week The Prayer Path brings you week 3 of our 7 weekly lenten prayer journeys which, using the stations of the cross as signposts on the way, will guide you along the pilgrim path that Jesus took to Easter joy, The Calvary Way. We will be helping you imagine the scenes from the unique viewpoint of someone who encountered Jesus, loving, healing and forgiving ministry in their lives, and we imagine is now following him closely as he takes his passion journey, the woman judged to be in adultery. At this crisis time for our planet, when we all need to play our part in supporting each other in any loving way we can, it seems all the more apt that this week we encounter Jesus at the 5th Station, where Simon of Cyrene is engaged to help Jesus with his cross, and at the 6th where Veronica, who many believe was the woman judged to be in adultery, lovingly offers Jesus a towel to wipe His face. A BIG thank you to Vincent Sherlock for allowing me to use his wonderful book. ' The Stations of The Cross'. Dearest Fellow Seekers, Starting next Wednesday, Ash Wednesday, The Prayer Path will bring you 7 weekly prayer journeys which, using the stations of the cross as signposts on the way, will guide you along the pilgrim path that Jesus took to Easter joy, The Calvary Way. In this weeks prayer journey we hope to prepare you to travel your own Lenten pilgrim journey by helping you to imagine it from the perspective of someone who might have watched or followed Jesus along the way. We could imagine it from the perspective of any one of a number of people who encountered Jesus', loving, healing and forgiving presence, but for these journeys, inspired by A book called ‘The Stations of The Cross by Vincent Sherlock, we look at it from the unique view point of the woman judged to be in adultery. Special words of thanks go to Vincent Sherlock for his permission to use his wonderful book, 'The Stations of The Cross' as the inspiration for this Lenten program, and to Salt of The Sound for their beautiful music. I’d also like to thank Niamh for giving voice to The Woman Judged in Adultery – she will replicate the role each week for the upcoming series of Lenten prayer journeys. Dearest Fellow Seekers, For this special Episode of The Prayer Path I introduce you to The Examen Prayer practice. St. Ignatius pioneered the examen prayer in the 1500's. The Examen is a prayer which helps us to reflect on a past period of time and while it is mostly carried ouy for a previous day or perhaps even few hours, we can still apply the principles in reflecting on our past year, The Prayer is a method of reflecting and in so doing considering where we might find God at work in our lives, times of consolation, and on the other side of that same coin considering where finding God's hand is a more difficult challenge. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all who have listened to The Prayer Path journey's in 2019 - The Journeys have been listened to an humbling 2300 times so far. I pray that you will all find peace and happiness in 2020 and most importantly the consolation of The Devine in your lives through Prayer. Dearest Fellow Seekers, This past week I attended an Advent Prayer gathering that was being led by a good friend who reminded us about Mary's expectant Motherhood. The questions she must have been asking herself about the future of her child, The Son of God!....and what she could not know would become. On this weeks Prayer Journey I invite you to contemplate Mary's expectancy and merge it with your expectant wonder of our still becoming self. Dearest Fellow Seekers. This week on The Prayer Path the focus moves to Advent and the coming of the light for which we wait patiently. 'In this sacred season we remember and celebrate the gift of Divine Love who leapt from the Holy Womb into the heart of humanity. Dearest Fellow Seekers The theme for this weeks Prayer Journey is Devine Love. The flow of love that the Devine has for YOU in every moment is unearned, constant, unending and ceaseless ……… what’s missing is your awareness of it, attention to it and openness to receive it. So on this Prayer Journey I invite you to take the time just to BE in this love which you have nothing to do to gain, nothing to do to make yourself worthy of…….. Nothing to do other than be open and allow. On the journey today, I lead you into a period of silent prayer, by giving voice to a wonderful poem prayer by Edwina Gately called Let your God Love You. The journey will then move forward with some reflective prompts guiding you to the end of the Path. Have a Peaceful Journey. 09 October 19 Dearest Fellow Seekers. I am honoured to bring you this weeks episode of The Prayer Path The theme for this weeks journey on The Prayer Path is Peace. Richard Rohr, in a recent meditation, refers to St. Francis whose definition of ‘peace to the world’ was inclusive in the absolute. ‘Sun, moon, animals, plants, elements and ALL humans are shown the same reverence and are all ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters’ to us all united with us through unity with God'. It is this posture of peace that I invite you to take with you as you travel the Prayer Path this week. The Prayer consists of 3 elements: 1. Music - Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu. Sung by Jane Winther (FB - @unisound.dk) 2. Vow of Non Violence - Richard Rohr, Centre for Action and Contemplation (cac.org) 3. Dearest Fellow Seekers, I am honoured to bring you another Episode of The Prayer Path - The Narrower Path. This week on the Narrower Path I invite you to pray with me about difficult journeys – we all have them! Whether it is simply the journey of the challenging, busy day ahead, or a difficult decision you have to make, the relationship you need to repair or indeed move on from, the looming medical appointment or the business trip you must make. Whatever it is, this prayer asks you to be mindful that not only does God journey alongside you and at times of great struggle carry you but has also gone before you, preparing the way for you through this difficult journey – and asks us to TRUST. This week on the Narrower Path I have included music Courtesy of Salt of The Sound. The track is ' Made A Way' from thier EP 'The Steepest Slopes' found at https://saltofthesound.bandcamp.com/track/made-a-way. I can't thank them enough for allowing me to include their music. Dearest Fellow Seekers. Welcome to The Prayer Path. This week I’ve felt gently guided by the spirit, to bring you a prayer journey, inspired by a person who while only living a very short life of 24 years, has been canonised as a saint, has been made a doctor of the Roman Catholic Church, is recognised as one of a more modern generation of Christian mystics and has cultivated an enourmous devotion that crosses the boundaries of religious tradition. St. Therese of Lisieux, also affectionately known as ‘The Little Flower’, in her practice of her ‘Little Way’ opened her heart completely and courageously poured out unwaivering love on all with whom she came into contact however challenging. He simple way’s of kindness, compassion and love, which she determined were how she became closer to God, are an inspiration to us all. In todays prayer journey, adapting some words by Joyce Rupp, I invite you to courageously ponder where your compassion and love reside and to pray that through open heartedness their virutues might be fortified within you. Have a Peaceful Journey John Timed Running Order (So you can join where it suits you) Hello 0.00; Expressing your Desires 1.41; Invite to Prepare/Preparation for Prayer 3.50; Prayer 11.57; Peace Prayer 26.16; Thankyou and Goodbye 27.42 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/The-Prayer-Path/message…
Welcome to another episode of The Prayer Path, The Narrower Path. This week on The Narrower Path I give voice to a beautiful Poem by the Irish Poet Patrick Kavanagh called 'From Failure Up'. In the poem Kavanagh, who refers to The Divine as God, asks whether it's not in the depths of our deepest despair and shattered parts of our lives that we find the greatest growth, healing, hope and meaning and indeed, the greatest sense of The Presence of The Divine at work in our lives. Dearest Fellow Seekers, We are deligheted to bring you this weeks episode of The Prayer Path. Inspired by the writings of Margaret Silf, The Prayer Path journey this week focuses on how we can illuminate the illusive connection between our Everyday lived Life and our prayer life so we can integrate one with the other. The wonderful image she gives us is of a tidally submerged sacred Causeway connecting the mainland of your lived experience and the holy island of your prayer time – a channel of grace. But before that I invite you to spend just a few minutes preparing your body and mind for prayer Have a Peaceful Journey John Approximate Journey Running Order This Week 1. Welcome to the first episode of The Prayer Path's 'The Narrower Path'which will be released every Sunday. For this first episode I give voice to a beautiful Blessing called "For Someone Who Did You Wrong" by John O' Donohue, found in his books: To Bless the Space Between Us (US) / Benedictus (Europe) - Ordering Info: https://johnodonohue.com/store . In last wednesdays Prayer Path journey we focused on The Welcoming Prayer, and how it might be used as a practice to bring healing to the negative emotions and feelings created by hurt and injustice. This beautiful blessing gives expression to both the hurt and how it can bring about the sometimes unexpected fruit of healing. The focus of this weeks Prayer Path journey is the practice of the The Welcoming Prayer referred to by Richard Rohr in his Beautiful Book – 'Just This'. Mary Mrozowski, who formulated the prayer says of its practice ‘To welcome and let go is one of the most radically loving, faith filed gestures we can make in each moment of the day. It is an open hearted embrace of all that is in ourselves and in the world’. Have a Peaceful Journey I would especially like to thank 'Salt of the Sound' for their permission to use their wonderful music on this weeks episode. Hello my name is John and you are most welcome to this weeks episode of The Prayer Path. For this weeks prayer I am using a meditation prepared by Diane Rutter of Contemplative Fire (https://contemplativefire.org/). It draws upon the wisdom phrase of Christian Mystic Meister Eckhart where he refers to the Divine, whom Eckhart names as God, as the Ground of Our Being. As you prepare to set out on your Prayer Path journey today I am inviting you to settle yourself in a posture that will enable you to feel, preferably your bare feet, firmly planted on the ground. This of course is your choice, being comfortable and at ease is much more a priority. When you have concluded your Prayer Path journey I would really appreciate it if you could take a moment to maybe use the voice message function and leave any comments or reflections about your experience on The Prayer Path. If you like The Prayer Path please do hit the like button, share it with others who you think might like it and subscribe to receive all future Prayers. The Prayer Path is now available on multiple platforms including iTunes, Spotify and Google Podcasts and you will also find The Prayer Path on FB(@PrayerPath1), Instagram (@PrayerPath1) and Twitter (The Prayer Path #ThePrayerPath) Thank you for visiting The Prayer Pat. Hello, Thank you for joining me on this weeks episode of The Prayer Path. The main text that for this week’s prayer is the poem ‘Wild Geese’ from 'Wild Geese' Mary Oliver. Mary Oliver was a poet who won the US National Book award and the Pulitzer Prize. She passed away in 2019 aged 83. The Times called her ‘Americas best-selling poet’ and a well-known poetry critic said of her that she was an 'indefatigable guide to the natural world and particularly its lesser known aspects'. Some would consider her a modern day mystic. In 'Wild Geese' we sense being guided about two different ways to approach this one true precious gift of life that we have been given. In this episode you also hear another of Mary Oliver's poems called 'Praying' from 'Thirst, Poems by Mary Oliver The beautiful music in today's Prayer is called 'Hardwood Lullaby' and is used courtesy of 'Piano Mover' and Blue Dot Sessions https://www.sessions.blue/ The Episode Art 'Background with Reeds and Wild Geese' is used courtesy of Vlado and Free Digital Photos http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/ After concIuding your journey on The Prayer Path today I would really appreciate it if you could take a moment to use the voice message function to leave any comments or reflections on your experience on The Prayer Path today. The text used for this week's prayer is the well known story from the gospel of John which tells of Jesus' first public miracle at the wedding feast of Cana. In the story we hear of a mothers gentle, loving encouragement in the face of a son's anxious reluctance to make his ministry public. John 2:1-12 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/The-Prayer-Path/message…
For this episode of The Prayer Path we have used the gospel story of Jesus's visit to Martha and Mary's House to inspire your prayer. In the story we hear about two very different responses to Jesus's presence. Luke 10:38-42. Also in the episode you will hear a reading of the prayer 'A Prayer To Be Freed From The Tizzies' by Joyce Rupp from her book Out of the Ordinary. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/The-Prayer-Path/message…
