When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. ×What happens when Jesus is in the house? In this powerful message from Mark 2:1-12 , Pastor Nathan unpacks the story of a packed house, four determined friends, and a life-changing encounter with Jesus. When Jesus shows up, people gather, things get messy, hearts are revealed, critics emerge—but most importantly, lives are transformed. Whether in our homes, our churches, or our hearts, inviting Jesus in changes everything. Join us as we explore what it truly means to have Jesus in the house! Recorded on: Sunday, March 3, 2025…
Too often, the church is known for what it’s against rather than what it stands for . At Pathway Church , we believe God has placed us in Peterborough to serve, love, and make a difference in our community. Originally delivered in October 2019, this message challenges us to embrace what it truly means to be ForPTBO —actively bringing hope, kindness, and the love of Jesus to those around us. Originally Recorded On: 2019-10-06…
This episode features a message from Pastor Nathan, originally shared in September 2019, titled Family Matters . In this sermon, we’re reminded of the importance of seeking God’s voice in Scripture rather than simply looking for what aligns with our own views. Whether you're hearing it for the first time or revisiting it, we pray this message encourages and challenges you in your faith journey. Originally Recorded On: September 29, 2019…
This is a milestone moment for Pathway Church—our final Sunday at Rhema Christian School before moving to our new home! In Part 2 of our "Remember When" series , Andrew Friesen takes us on a journey of flashbacks , reflecting on God’s incredible faithfulness over the past 14+ years. As we look back, we also set our sights forward—trusting that God is not done yet . Recorded on: Sunday, February 9, 2025…
As we prepare to leave Rhema Christian School and step into our new home on Wallace Point Road, we take a moment to look back and remember God’s faithfulness. From the very beginning, He has provided, guided, and shaped our church. The same God who was faithful then is faithful now—leading us forward with trust and expectation.…
In the final message of our Finding Jesus series, Pastor Nathan unpacks a powerful truth: God works through broken, imperfect people to accomplish His purposes. Through personal stories and scripture from 2 Corinthians 4, we see how God places His treasure in “jars of clay” – ordinary, flawed individuals – so that His power is made known.…
Stories have the power to connect, inspire, and reveal truth in ways that facts alone cannot. In this message, we explore how faith is often sparked by hearing the stories of others and how God uses testimonies to point people to Jesus. Drawing from Romans 10:14-17, this sermon highlights the importance of sharing our faith and recognizing how God is at work in our own lives. Watch now to be encouraged and challenged to share your story and help others find Jesus. Recorded on January 19, 2025…
This week, we continue our series, Finding Jesus, by exploring how the entire Bible points to Him. Pastor Nathan shows us how Jesus is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets, and how we can see Him on every page of Scripture. Discover how finding Jesus changes everything. Baby dedication Sunday, Pastor Nathan focuses on Joshua 24:15, where Joshua makes the bold statement that he, and his family choose to serve the Lord.
This Sunday we have guest speaker Andrew Friesen teaching on John 21:15-19, where Jesus repeatedly asks Peter one simple question - Do you love me?
Message from April 7, 2024 - Pathway Church PTBO
Easter Sunday is always a special time. Whether you're a person of faith or not, the fact that Jesus died for us all, and knows us by name is a very powerful thing. In today's podcast, Pastor Nathan talks about Mary at the tomb. When Jesus says her name, her life is forever changed.
Join us for our Palm Sunday service with guest speaker Tim Coles, National Director of Youth For Christ Canada.
Made New - In Peter’s closing remarks we are reminded to hold onto the promise of God and prepare our hearts and lives for Christ’s return. While we await the Day of the Lord, we must rest in the promise of a new heaven and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. For those who love Christ, there is so much to look forward to.…
Our theme for this message is found throughout the pages of scripture. Old and New Testament alike, testify to the reality of Christ’s return as the glorious king that he is. What will that day be like? How should we live in light this moment we are told is coming soon?
This week we continue our study in 2 Peter chapter 2. Peter instructs us concerning false teachers and the means of their deception. Greed and sexual sin are not new strategies, and they certainly didn’t emerge in Las Vegas or the 20th century. These tools of temptation are as old as time, and have been used to seduce people of every generation, by offering what they are unable to deliver.…
2 Peter 2:4-11 In this message we will be reminded that God will judge each and every person AND that God will save those who humbly put their faith and trust in Christ.
Did you know that in every group, in every church, and in every age, there are individuals who oppose God's work? In our text this week, Peter is going to remind us of this truth and help us to identify the qualities and attributes of a false teacher. How do we respond? How can we protect ourselves? Buckle up as we learn to discern fakes and snakes.…
How can we know if the claims of the Apostles are true? How can we know if Jesus really rose from the dead and offers hope and salvation to all. Is it all just a fairy tale or a myth? In our text today, Peter is going to tell us how we can discover the truth, and where we should turn for the answers we seek.…
In this series we are walking verse by verse through the New Testament letter of 2 Peter. In his farewell address, Peter encourages us: to pursue spiritual maturity, to discern false teachers, and to live in light of the second coming of Christ. As we open his letter we are challenged with this question, "are we growing in grace?"…
In this series, we explore the power of the lies we believe. We will discover where lies come from, why we believe them, and how to find the fulfillment that Satan's lies promise but never deliver. Today our focus is on our mental health.
We live in a culture that is constantly changing and does not always agree with the truth of scripture. In this message we will ask the question “when should I draw a line in the sand”? If we fail to answer this question, the chances are very high that we will find ourselves pulled away by the current of culture.…
As we kick off the New Year, we will explore the power of the lies we believe. In this message series from Connexus Church, we will discover where lies come from, why we believe them, and how to find the fulfillment that Satan's lies promise but never deliver.
The story of the wise men's journey to worship Jesus and experience his presence is not just a story from history, but also a template of how we can personally experience Gods presence in our lives today. God is present with us and available to us today, revealing himself both in the obvious and the difficult to notice. Our drive (or lack of it) to discover and experience his presence will define our experience of love, joy and peace this Christmas season.…
Christmas can be such a festive, merry and joyful time. Until it's not. Then nothing makes sense. This week we will explore the idea that God's presence isn't only experienced in the good times but also in the noisy, messy and chaotic seasons of life.
The greatest gift God has ever given to us, is himself. This Christmas we are focusing in on the importance of God’s presence in our lives. If you feel lonely, exhausted, or in need of hope … there’s good news. God is “with us”.
What should you do when you pray and it seems like God isn’t listening? Many of us will be tempted to: give up, to move on, or quit altogether. That is why Jesus encourages us not to give up, he tells us to keep asking, seeking, and knocking. He assures us that our Father does hear us, and we will experience his goodness if we don’t stop praying.…
Too many people want to pray, but don't know how. In this message we will learn how to pray using the Lord's Prayer as simple model. We will also learn about 4 behaviours that block our prayers from being answered. Sermon Based Questions: https://shorturl.at/brF78
All around the world, people of faith and no faith alike, turn to prayer. So what is prayer? Why is it important? Is there a right way and a wrong way to pray? In this message series will expand on Jesus' teaching from Luke 11 as he teaches his disciples, and us, how to pray.
Join us for Mission Sunday to hear stories from our local and international missions partners.
Standing with Jesus is never easy. It takes faith and courage to continue standing in spite of the difficulties and opposition we will face in life. In this message we will be reminded that our faith is not a one-time decision, but an everyday decision to stand with Him through the good times and bad.…
In life we will be tempted to take shortcuts, but shortcuts always cost us more in the long run. Jesus invites each of us to follow him wherever he leads. It may not be easy, but it will be worth it.
Sometimes it feels like time is racing past so quickly that it almost seems like a blur. At other times, especially when we're waiting on something from God, time to go painfully slow. Today we'll look at David's journey from teen shepherd boy to King of Israel and examine how we can have patience with purpose as we wait for our next step that God has prepared for us.…
We all need friends who will encourage and strengthen us. Do you have friends like that? In this message we will learn the importance of our relationship with God AND how we can build healthy relationships with others. We are the church. Let’s leave loneliness behind and grow together.
The church is a community of people who are following Jesus. When a large group gathers together, there will be all kinds of people in the room. In this message we will be encouraged to decide which kind of people we want to be as we gather together as the church.
When hard pressed on every side Christians are called to (and can) thrive, and not just survive.
We believe the church isn’t a building—it’s people. And when each of those people knows who they are and what they believe, they can achieve incredible things together. In our new series, We Are the Church, let’s learn more about who we are and how we can work together to change the world.
When Jesus said he would build his church, what exactly did he have in mind? He wasn't talking about buildings or programs, he was talking about making disciples. In this message we are going to discover what a disciple is, and how we go about becoming one.
Do you ever find yourself wanting to repair a broken relationship but not knowing where to start? You are not alone. Many relationships remain fractured because each person in the relationship is waiting for the other to step up and make a move. In this message we will ask and answer the question, "who should go first?"…
In this message we will look at the words of Jesus reminding us that we do not always see ourselves and others clearly. When it comes to repairing a broken relationship there must be two willing parties and each person must be willing to take an honest look in the mirror and own their part in order to be reconciled.…
How can we read the Bible for ourselves? In this message we are going to learn some simple tools for not only understanding the Bible, but how to engage with it in a meaningful way.
You don't trust it. You lost interest. You're not a reader. You don't know where to start. You don't get it. There are many reasons why people don't read the Bible. What if you had a different approach? What if you could confidently open the pages of the Bible and actually experience something fresh in your life? In this series, we'll discover why there's more to these pages than you think. You may not think feet are beautiful, but they are when they carry the good news of the gospel to others. Beautiful feet are feet that take steps to follow Jesus. This Sunday we will be celebrating exactly that, as a number of people take their next step of faith through the waters of baptism. Put on your shoes, sandals, or slippers and join us - it’s going to be a great morning.…

As we read through the Christmas story we recognize that, regardless of how meaningful it is to us, without Jesus the actual story doesn't really matter. It was their connection to Jesus that mattered 2000 years ago. Similarly today, if we want to have the maximum impact with our life we need to trust and say yes to Jesus in order to step out of the ordinary.…
There are no perfect trees and no perfect stories. God will work through us in spite of our mistakes. He redeems our failures and accomplishes his purpose. No matter what is in your past ... Christmas reminds us that we can write a new story with Christ.
The Christmas story does not begin with Mary or Joseph, it begins with a promise from God traced through the generations. In this three-week series we will examine the Christmas story through the genealogy of Jesus given to us by Matthew. As we study the family tree of Jesus we discover a faithful God who: invites all to come, redeems our past, and makes the ordinary extraordinary. O come let us adore him.…
P3 - Lose the cape! Everyone wants to be a hero! We desire to be the one who shows up to save the day, to help our loved ones, or to fix the problems. In our attempts to be like Jesus, to better ourselves, and to help others, we can sometimes lose sight of our own need for a saviour.
We are called to be like Jesus ... not to be Jesus. You are not the judge, you are not in control, you are not the saviour of the world ... HE IS. Part 2 - “Control Issues” Who doesn't want it? We are constantly tempted to take control of everyone and everything around us, but we do it to our detriment. There are so many things that are not ours to manage and we must learn to trust the one who faithfully holds it all together.…
We are called to be like Jesus ... not to be Jesus. You are not the judge, you are not in control, you are not the saviour of the world ... HE IS. Part 1 - “Don’t Judge!” These words of Jesus are often quoted, seldom practiced. Even though we have this clear command, many unchurched people still describe “Christians” as judgmental. This reveals that we have yet to fully comprehend and embrace the words of Jesus - who himself is THE GREAT JUDGE. In this message we are going to discover a simple grid that will keep us from overstepping and taking the place of Jesus in judging others.…
Like many things in life, getting your generosity journey started is often the hardest part. Too many people assume they will be generous some day, while failing to recognize the opportunities to develop generosity that are right in front of them. Generosity is not a destination we arrive at; it is a skill, a grace, and an attitude that we build on each day.…
