Author Burt Baldwin from Bayfield, Colorado has just published a new anthology of poetry titled Selected Poems from 1973-2023. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and the Methodist Theological School in Ohio after which he became the Assistant Chaplain at Ohio Wesleyan. He has been an educator for over 40 years teaching at Franklin University, Pueblo Community College and Fort Lewis College here in Durango. He spent many years teaching at the Ignacio School District as well. He has won a long list of awards for his teaching including the Colorado Governor’s Award for Excellence in Education, Southern Ute Tribal Award for Outstanding Service to the Southern Ute Indian Children, The Boettcher Foundation Teacher Recognition Award, The Colorado Commissioner of Education’s Conservation Award and the Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented Teacher of the Year Award. His passion for teaching and for the environment is felt through his work. His articles and essays have been published regularly in the Durango Telegraph, Colorado Country Life Magazine and The Four Corners Free Press. His new book contains five sections of poetry; Nature, Ruminations, Love, War, and People which are all expressions of his thoughts and experiences over time. As a multitalented artist this is not his only creative outlet, he is a musician and painter as well.
