Introducing This Week’s Guests
This week on my radio show, we welcome an incredible mix of talent and expertise. Joining me in the studio is the insightful and multi-talented Sarah Marsh-Collings, founder of babelMonkey. But that’s not all—our surprise guests are the dynamic Sonia Brown MBE, known for her empowering work with women in business, and the inspiring Zeenat Noorani, connecting with us all the way from Dubai!
Sarah Marsh-Collings: A Life Rich in Experiences
Sarah’s story is as unique as it is inspiring. Born in Bangkok as the daughter of a diplomat and an executive PA, she grew up in various corners of the globe, including Malawi, Bangladesh, Belgium, and Indonesia. Her journey continued through boarding school in Hastings and the International Baccalaureate at Jakarta International School.
Her career began in catering, managing diverse restaurants, before she transitioned into recruitment and marketing. In February 2014, she founded her business, babelMonkey, a marketing agency that reflects her passion for creativity and strategic thinking.
When she’s not tackling marketing challenges, Sarah enjoys spending time with her rescue dog, Barney, and experimenting in the kitchen—a hobby she charmingly refers to as "guddling."
Sarah's Business Insights: Buzzword Pet Peeves & Email Signatures
During the show, Sarah shared her perspective on buzzwords like authenticity. For Sarah, these overused terms dilute the richness of language:
“What are we really talking about? How much do we really have to share? Language is beautiful, and when it’s hijacked, it irritates me—it feels lazy.”
On a practical note, Sarah offered a clever and often overlooked business tip:
“Use your email signature to promote yourself. If you’re out of the office, share where you are, why you’re there, or who you’re meeting. You can even promote their services at the same time! And don’t be afraid to use humour—it makes you relatable.”
These small but impactful ideas reflect Sarah’s innovative approach to business communication.
Surprise Guests: Sonia Brown MBE & Zeenat Noorani Adding an extra layer of excitement to the show were our surprise guests. Sonia Brown MBE, a trailblazer in empowering women in business, brought her characteristic energy and insights. Meanwhile, Zeenat Noorani, tuning in from Dubai, shared her global perspective on mental health, wellbeing, and personal development.
Their contributions added depth and diversity to the conversation, leaving listeners with plenty to reflect on.
Looking Ahead: Next Week’s Inspiring Lineup The inspiration doesn’t stop here! Next week, we’ll be joined by the insightful Fiona Catchpowle, a specialist in menopause support and awareness, who is passionate about helping women navigate this pivotal life stage with confidence. Joining her will be Siobhan Barry, a fellow presenter at LDBR, bringing her own unique perspective to the conversation. Be sure to tune in for more engaging discussions and actionable insights!
