So there is an ongoing conversation on YouTube amongst black content creators. In fact this conversation only occurs in the black sector of YouTube. And some wouldn’t even call it a conversation. More like an argument. What I am referring to is the request for viewer support. Of course this means donations. Or as some less reputable YouTubers would call it, “begging.” It’s interesting that they use the word begging which would imply that some content creators are asking for money and giving nothing in return. This seems to be inaccurate considering that the only way a viewer/rival content creator would know that said YouTuber is “begging” is if they viewed the YouTuber’s content. Some have even gone so far as to say that a YouTuber who expects his viewers to donate is engaging in the welfare mindset. Well let’s examine this for a second.
