Hello my name is Carlos J. Cuadros and welcome to my podcast - Cuadros Corner. In this episode I talked to RGV photographer, Nora Isabel - who specializes in candid & nostalgic vibes.

📸 Her BIO is as follows:

📸

"I’ve always been artistic. Growing up - I was very interested in and often participated in art programs, which even lead me to pursue a minor in Fine Art at UTRGV. This background has significantly influenced my approach to photography. I first picked up a camera at the age of 17, and I worked for my mom - as a wedding/quinceañera photographer at he event center in Harlingen, TX.

I was very, very green - but just so grateful to gain experience and practice with a new artistic medium. This job helped me pay for my education and complete my degree at UTRGV - a BA in Communication Studies.

Some time before graduating, however, I met my husband and we were married and expecting our first baby boy. I delivered him about a month after completing my courses! THIS was my dream true. Never in my life, did I aspire for a certain career path. Since I can remember, my dream in life was to become a mom. My passion for the arts was just fun - where God blessed me with a natural talent… and of course, my education was very important to me - but not so that I could pursue a career or salary. If anything, I think I chose COMM because I knew that if and when I pursued a career - I would land in an entrepreneurial situation.

Watching my mother own and operate business my whole life (that we’re often creative and passion driven) - How could I pursue a similar dynamic for my own life? Right! So, I was a stay at home mom with my baby boy for a year and a half and I really did not even want (nor did I foresee wanting to) to pursue a career until my second pregnancy with my daughter - this is when I had my AHA moment…

We were on a family trip to visit my husbands family in Guanajuato, Guanajuato. I brought my camera with me, to document his family members and their lifestyle on the ranch. I was just so genuinely excited to capture these people that I was blessed to now call my family through marriage. At one point in the trip, some family members were asking me about my journey as a photographer - and as they saw me light up and explain how much I enjoy it and how much I love photographing people… one of them stopped me, and simply asked, “so then why did you stop doing it?”

From that moment, I haven’t put my camera down! I started my business, six months pregnant!"
