The Department of Energy recently announced the proposed phase II of the National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC). A list of preliminary, potential corridors includes the Midwest Plains, spanning 5 miles wide and 780 miles long across portions of Illinois, Indiana, Kansas and Missouri. Each year, a panel of judges selects two college students who will serve in the leadership role through the year ahead. This year, 14 young leaders competed for the opportunity, and Karson Calvin and Claire Walker earned the title. This week, we introduce you to Walker, representing the Livingston County Farm Bureau. She's a junior at the University of Missouri majoring in agribusiness management.
