On today’s show I welcome Sondra Reher, mother, nurse and birth doula based in Oshawa ON. In this episode, she tells of her experience working as a nurse in the early days of Covid. The way her supervisors and policy makers handled the situation furthered her distrust for the allopathic medical system which was brought forth after the traumatic birth of her son a year prior. In her second pregnancy, she took a doula course which helped her prepare for an empowered birth. She shares how the c-section birth of her second child was less traumatic than her previous vaginal birth. Sondra has gathered her experiences and wisdom from her births and her work within the allopathic medical system to create a course for pregnant women and their support team. Her goal is to arm families with knowledge about their patient rights while navigating the medical system so that it can be used as a healthcare tool. Her course Birth Autonomy within the Medical System will be launched March 2023 Find her on Instagram @maternalintuition Sondra’s website nursedoulabirthkeeper.com The doula course she took was by midwife Whapio Diane Bartlett thematrona.com
