In chemistry, when two reactants aren't reacting properly to give the desired product, a catalyst is introduced to speed up the process. However, the catalyst doesn't replace the reactants. It is only effective in the presence of the reactants. So also, in the faith process, when everything you've done hasn't translated your promise into performance, some catalysts speed up that faith process.
