Network TV used crossover episodes as a, sometimes brilliant, other times despicable, attempt to get new viewers to watch their shows. (You know, where characters from one show end of being featured in a completely different show.) Often times, these episodes turned into train wrecks where the marketing department got to overrule the creative department.
