Claire and James of “This Big Road Trip” took the time to chat with us back in April of 2020. Clearly, much has taken place in twenty months...
Yes, just short of 2 years ago! Just as COVID reared its ugly mug. Days and weeks prior to many of our worlds being turned inside out.
This interview is PACKED with such valuable information! Information based on years of experience. Claire and James are originally from the UK, but moved to live in BC, Canada in 2006. Claire is a family physician, while James is an Endurance Athlete/Sport Coach with a focus on Ironman distance triathlon racing. They left Canada on January 1st of 2018 to start what they thought would be a three year round the world trip, driving from Canada to Patagonia, then shipping to South Africa and driving to Europe, through the Middle East, The Stans, Russia, China, Mongolia, SE Asia and Australia. As many original overlanding plans go, that original plan went out the window, now traveling overland for two years and four months at the time we talked to them in Colombia. We are beyond excited to finally release this power packed episode! So, SO good!
Claire and James continue to work remotely while they travel. James works with about 20 athletes providing training schedules, feedback and analysis and race plans, while Claire practicing telemedicine via videoconferencing with patients in BC, Canada. Claire has also volunteered her time with some humanitarian work along the way, both in Nicaragua and most recently (at the time of our interview), on the Venezuelan Colombian border working with the Venezuelan refugees.
Enjoy the interview, be sure to follow This Big Road Trip on social, letting James and Claire know what you enjoyed most about their episode.
