What is the meaning or purpose of life? In this passage from Philippians 1, Paul declares that “to live is Christ and to die is gain,” in response to a real situation where he could lose his life for being a follower of Jesus. The Philippian church needed to hear this truth as they were facing persecution, and we need this reminder as we battle the lies of a culture that tells us to live only for ourselves. Will we buy into these lies, or follow the example of Paul in living for the glory of the Lord and the service and love of others? From our Sunday service at Grace Bible Church of Bend.
