About the series: Creative Speaks is the first season of the Human Be-ing podcast where we explore different creative fields, what inspired our guests to enter their chosen field and a little about their journey. Our first guest is Michael Barrett, professionally known as, JuanMike.

A little about Michael: With a sound that may only be described as the “Next Gen" of music, Michael “JuanMike" Barrett is a force of the cosmos, ready to smash into the multinational music scene, like an era altering comet. He is here, and he was born to make that ‘big bang.'

Hailing from a community in St. Catherine, Jamaica known as Gregory Park- the epitome of humble beginnings- has not stopped his ambition of becoming a household name in the industry, and he effortlessly and impressively works across all genres, most commonly Reggae, Dancehall, Afrobeat, Hip-Hop, R&B, Drill and Trap Soul.

His interest in music production was spurred at a young age, where he was intrigued by the art of percussion and drumming; at age 16 he attempted to make his first beat, and indisputably found his calling.

Over the years, this self-taught musical maverick has gained the confidence of many on the local and international front, namely Daddy1, and Mystikal Stunna- formerly of the Mystikal Revolution band. JuanMike has also produced and engineered for the likes of Jayds from the OneVoice/4ThGenna camp- on tracks such as Dirty Money, Carson Fyah who competed in the Magnum King and Queen of the Dancehall, International acts including Cody Whyte, as well as Entertainer Extraordinaire, Interest on tracks like “R.I.P Bruk Life."

With a sound influenced by passion, talent and the ever-changing tides of the entertainment scene, his infectious arrangements are also regularly described as dynamic and in a league of their own.

JuanMike’s portfolio also includes creating and possessing a recording studio environment that produces quality output for songs, Ad’s, dubs, YouTube videos, and much more, called Studio 48, which can only be identified as THE creative engine this side of the island, and even this hemisphere.

The ambitions of JuanMike and Studio 48 are guided by the mantra, “take talents, and make impacts."
