Griffin Conine opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the second inning, giving Miami the early lead it would never give up.

Every time the Giants came within one, Miami added another one.

The Giants got an RBI groundout from Mike Yastrzemski, and RBI single from Tyler Fitzgerald, and Michael Conforto's 8th inning homer- all of which brought them back to within one.

But Connor Norby's solo homer and David Hensley's RBI groundout kept the Marlins creeping ahead just enough to eek out the win.

Jesus Sanchez added two hits for Miami, (50-86) as they finally won their 50th game.

Edward Cabrera pitched 5 1/3 innings for Miami, giving up just one run on six hits before turning it over to the bullpen.

Calvin Faucher pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his 5th save.

These two teams play the last of this three-game series tomorrow in San Francisco.
