Thrift stores and vintage specialty retailers offer an opportunity for consumers to find affordable glamour, to buy back their memories, and to even contribute to a global economy of product upcycling. A former vintage retailer and longtime thrift store ethnographer, Ayres digs deep to uncover the power of memory and narrative hanging around at the local thrift store.
