THE TALK

Being product people, we put a lot of effort into understanding our users. We go to incredible lengths to show them empathy, experience their daily struggles, and then work day and night to come up with a solution to their problem.

Nonetheless, our efforts are only as good as our execution. While we try to get in the heads of our users, we forget that we are not the ones that will create the end product - our engineers are. That often does not stop us from neglecting that relationship what frequently results in mismatched expectations, low productivity, bad quality, or even failed products.

This talk will try to explore some of the reasons behind that phenomenon and will provide a number of methods stemming from both product practices and agile software development which ensure the team is on the same page.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Mateusz enjoys helping teams succeed tending to the often overlooked human factor of product development. He started his career as a coder at Motorola and has quickly risen through the ranks to become responsible for areas of product architecture in billion-dollar deployments. Since technical prowess and agile practices alone have never allowed him to fully bridge the gap between the developers and the users of their application, he has embarked on a career in product management. From there, he has worked with a number of teams and products in fin-tech and messaging, converging rapid product development and technology while trying to create products that users will love.
