This year most of the Gospel lessons are in the Gospel according to Saint Mark. These readings talk about Jesus’ teachings, His miracles, and His action-packed ministry. But each of the readings also has a “takeaway” from Jesus Himself! We’re focusing on these “red-letter” verses this year.

Many Lutherans and other Protestants often observe the last Sunday in October as Reformation Sunday. We Lutherans often spend most of our time on this Sunday thinking about the work of Martin Luther, and the development of the Lutheran Church through the ages. Today, though, I want to come at this from a little different direction. In our Gospel lesson today, we’ll hear Jesus ask a blind man this question, that’s also good for us to think about today: “What do you want me to do for you?”
