In this episode, we spoke with Joshua Hintze, from Vendoti, about innovating with live video streaming on e-commerce applications.

Joshua Hintze and McKay Christensen originally started their careers in corporate engineering before they started a VR arcade called VR Junkies. As the VR arcade grew, they looked to expand and apply their skill sets in other areas.

They found an opportunity within the network marketing channel that had historically been using Facebook’s live video presentations to sell and resell apparel – a process that was arduous with long lag times.

Josh and McKay entered into a deal with Red5 Pro to create a mobile app that had real-time low latency video streaming and started offering them to network marketers and other marketing organizations, and in 2019, Vendoti was born.

We talk about the journey from VR to e-commerce and how Linode has supported the growth and development of the business.

In this episode, we discussed:

  • How Josh first encountered Linode
  • His move from corporate engineering to VR
  • How they saw an opportunity within live streaming e-commerce
  • How Linode’s transparent pricing supported Vendoti’s growth
  • The team’s love of the Linode API and global data centers
