This Week on The Hope Strategy Podcast we team up with the Orphan Myth Project to bring a special mini-series talking to some of the people involved in the project. In this episode we talk with Carrie Lloyd. Carrie talks about kindness, belief, connection and self worth. Carrie also shares the 1# thing that can be done to impact the number of homeless and incarcerated youths - fixing the foster care system.

“Downstream Effects”

One of the major statistics that keeps showing up again and again both in Homelessness, Incarceration and Trafficking, is that for example in Los Angeles 80% of trafficked victims actually were in foster care. 75% of those incarcerated in America were in the foster care system at some point. 50% of homelessness, were in foster care at some point... Forgive me for speaking for the rest of the team but the reason why we are all so passionate about this as if we catch up the problems upstream, (reforming the foster care system in the United States of America, as well being able to navigate reunifying children back to their homes, or finding them a forever family a safe and loving family if they can't go back to their families) then we will actually catch up all of those things upstream and reduce significantly those numbers
