Pioneers of County December 11, 2011 Well it's two weeks until Christmas and we have an abbreviated broadcast today. We begin with Alabama "Jukebox In My Mind". Barbara Mandrell says "you can eat crackers in my bed anytime". Johnny Lee and Lane Brody are next with "The Yellow Rose of Texas. Next is Don Williams. Scoring at least one major hit every year between 1974 and 1991, Williams had an impressive fifty-six chart records. Fifty of these reached the country Top Twenty, and forty-five made the Top Ten; seventeen went to #1. In 1978 he was the Country Music Association’s (CMA) Male Vocalist of the Year. This time we hear “Some Broken Hearts Never Mend”. Cadillac Style" recorded by American country music artist Sammy Kershaw is next. It was released in October 1991 as his debut single, as well as the lead-off single from his debut album Don't Go Near the Water. It peaked at number 3 in both the United States and Canada. Travis Tritt & Marty Stuart sings "This One's Gonna Hurt You (For a Long Long Time)". "Back on My Mind Again" is the next song written by Charles Quillen and Conrad Pierce, and performed by American country music artist Ronnie Milsap. It was released in December 1978 and reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Eddy Arnold sings his signature song, The Cattle Call. Dave states that two weeks from today is Christmas Day and plays a seasonal favorite by Roger Miller. The Bellamy Brothers sing “We All Get Crazy at Christmas”.
