Welcome back to "Small Screen Couch Commentary" with your hosts, Alex and Billy! This week, we dive into the madness of The Boys Season 4, Episode 5, titled "Beware of the Jabberwock, My Son." Buckle up, folks, because this episode takes us on a wild ride through Vought's latest fan expo, heart-wrenching family moments, as well as Alex and Billy's latest theories about the show moving forward.

The episode opens with a Vought extravaganza, the V52 Expo. Cameron Coleman and The Deep kick things off on stage, revealing a slew of new Vought projects, including "Training A-Train" and "The Deep: Gods & Dolphins." Backstage, Homelander experiences traumatic flashbacks from his childhood and the events from the last episode. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Hughie is in disbelief over his father's miraculous recovery, thanks to a sneaky injection of Compound V by Daphne. Alex and Billy find it hilarious how Hughie, usually the voice of reason, is now tangled in yet another Vought-induced mess. Poor Hughie can't catch a break!

As the episode unfolds, we see Butcher and MM visiting former Vought CEO Stan Edgar in prison. Edgar, ever the puppet master, refuses to help until Butcher drops a bombshell about Neuman injecting her daughter with Compound V. Stan reluctantly decides to help them since he may get a presidential pardon out of the deal.

Back at the V52 Expo, things get even crazier. The Deep and Cameron Coleman promote a new diversity initiative that doesn't sit well with everyone in the audience. Alex and Billy can't stop laughing at the absurdity of Vought's attempts to save face while digging themselves deeper into the PR disaster hole.

The episode reaches its apex with a chaotic showdown involving superpowered chickens and sheep. Yes, you read that right. The Boys team, along with Neuman and Edgar, battle these V-infused animals in a farmhouse. It's bloody, it's intense, and it's quintessential The Boys.

But the real emotional moment comes from Hughie, his father and now seemingly less estranged mother, Daphne. Hughie’s heartfelt confession about his childhood hero being his dad is a gut-wrenching moment, beautifully acted by Jack Quaid and Simon Pegg.

The episode ends with Butcher making a morally gray decision, leading to Alex's new theory piggybacking off of Billy's from the last episode. Could there be any truth to what Alex believes is really happening?

Join Alex and Billy as they break down the shocking moments, hilarious scenes, and the emotional gut-punch that is "Beware of the Jabberwock, My Son." With their signature humor and insightful commentary, they navigate the twisted world of The Boys, ensuring you catch every detail. So grab your popcorn, settle in, and get ready for another explosive episode of Small Screen Couch Commentary!
