In this episode of Thinking That Matters, I had the pleasure of welcoming back my friend Samm Adel, who first joined us for an inspiring conversation in episode 66. Sam is a dynamic director of sales at the Hampton Dallas Allen and a valued team member at Aimbridge Hospitality, the largest hospitality management company in the U.S. Beyond her professional role, she is a devoted mom, wife, and Christian, embodying the spirit of a true hotelier and balancing many roles with grace and passion.

Our conversation this time centered around the theme of growth—its significance, impact, and the personal and professional challenges it presents. We dove into the discomfort that often accompanies change, exploring how it can be both challenging and essential for thriving.

We also discussed emotional intelligence (EQ) and its unique role in the hospitality industry. Sam shared her insights on understanding guests’ emotional needs and enhancing their experiences, even in sensitive moments. She offered practical tips for managing emotions, including breathing techniques, preparation, and grounding exercises like the 5-4-3-2-1 rule.

More about Elizabeth Mahusay:

Elizabeth grew up a self-starter who as a young woman prided herself on her independence and self-sufficiency. She found herself challenged to develop deep and meaningful relationships because of her prideful “know-it-all” approach to life and work. She projected that she was perfect yet struggled to deal with failure, thoughts of insecurity, and the feeling of inadequacy. Through her study of the Bible, time as an entrepreneur, and the accountability of some great mentors Elizabeth, is a transformed woman. Today, she passionately invests her time helping others transform their thinking.

Elizabeth is author of the recently published Transform My Thinking, God study on the book of Philippians. She has published over 170 YouTube videos and hundreds of Facebook Live videos ranging from topics of business building, daily encouragement/motivation, inspiration, marriage, and Bible exposition.
