For over 50 years, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve has been a staple of New Year’s Eve celebrations. The legendary Dick Clark first hosted the show in 1972, and continued for over 30 years, before retiring due to health reasons in 2004. Ryan Seacrest, known for his hosting duties on American Idol, radio, and now Wheel of Fortune, then took over hosting duties.
This year marks Seacrest’s 20th anniversary as host, a milestone he still finds hard to believe. Growing up watching Clark, Seacrest never imagined he would one day host the iconic show.
