E56 Bruce and Laura chat, rage, console, and inform about SCOTUS Decision on Affirmative Action, AAPI, and other stuff
Manage episode 367864592 series 2940682
On this episode, Laura Mariko Cheifetz I scramble to record after the most recent SCOTUS decisions about affirmative action. In this episode, we chat, rage, console, and inform about the definition and misconceptions of affirmative action, the challenges and disagreements within the Asian American Community, military exemptions, the impact of im/migration histories, college admissions, the model minority myth, solidarity with Black and Brown communities, and more. We also address the SCOTUS decisions about student loan debt forgiveness and LGBTQIA+ legal discrimination. It's a roller coaster, and neither of us will ever be able to run for office, but we hope it is helpful!
There is much swearing and a lot of insider talk about the Asian American community. If this is not your community, please be careful about how/if you communicate what we share.
