In 2009, Australia faced the worst bushfires it had ever seen. And yet in a time of such intense darkness, there was a glimmer of light in the form of a small, badly-burnt koala, whose rescue photo went viral. Sam would go on to become a symbol of hope for those who had lost everything, and her story is a beautiful example of the power of one small act of kindness.
