About Manuel Herranz and Pangeanic:

MIT in Entrepreneurship, Manuel worked for major automobile manufacturers and power co-generation in the UK in the 90’s with postings in Argentina, Mexico and his native Spain. His background in machine translation comes from his mission to automate language processes for B.I Corp., the Japanese corporation for which he was European Director from 1998-2005. Since, he has focused on the development of Natural Language Processing technologies to provide process automation and true value to clients. A frequent speaker at industry events, Manuel’s areas of interest cover statistics, deep neural networks, adaptive technologies, pattern recognition and deep learning applied to Natural Language Processing.

His interest in data acquisition led him to make of Pangeanic a founding member of TAUS and data-sharing initiatives.

Manuel is also committed to supporting NGO actions like the Malima Project for primary education in Central Africa, as well as Translators Without Borders, medical research into rare diseases and sports events. Manuel is a double graduate from Manchester University.

Architect of machine translation platform PangeaMT and Pangeanic's Cor technologies (translation APIs, CMS plugins, Terminology management, etc). PangeaMT revolutionized the concept of statistical machine translation systems by including retraining features, TMX management, cleaning routines, and in-line management systems that overcame Moses limitations. Pangeanic was the first translation company in the world to make commercial use of Moses (AMTA, Euromatrixplus.net)

2000-2004

European Director B.I Europa . Reporting to Tokyo HQ, European localization arm serving major electronics Japanese manufacturers. Certification to IS9001 and EN15038. Designed B.I Europa management buy-out to become Pangeanic.

- European associate B.I Corp. 1997-2004. Responsible for the company's relocation to Spain from UK. HHRR & hiring responsibilities, IT network and infrastructure. Development of automation strategies (desktop publishing, translation). Setting up production transfer with Chinese subsidiary in Shanghai, including staff exchange and relocation (2000).

- Freelance Consultant 1992-1997 dealing mainly with large-scale technical projects (Chief Localizer for Ford Zetec-SE plant in Valencia and Chihuahua, Rolls Royce Power Generation plants in Huelva and Argentina, main Spanish linguist for Ocean Software games, Eaton Transmissions, Thyssen Krupp, etc).
