In this episode of the Global Salesleader podcast I'm speaking with Dr. Michelle K. Johnston who is a management professor, executive coach, and leadership expert who helps leaders to get the results they need through meaningfully connecting with their people. She is an award-winning professor studying leadership and business communication, and her research has shown a clear link between a team’s effective communication and its positive financial performance. Command and control no longer work as a form of leadership. Instead, you have to act as a conductor and let people play their own instruments and learn by trial and error.

When you work together in collaboration, the leader helps you improve your skills and get better at what you do. You're coached so that you find answers that lead to success for your team.

Being aware of yourself first will enable you to be a more authentic leader. Next, you need to understand your team and work with them.
