Hey Gritty Friends,

One of the questions I ask my clients, when we are exploring where your business is currently, is about their team, employees, or co-workers. We have seen so many take the network they have and move it to another company and BAM you're a leader and have never done this before. Maybe you just sponsored your first teammate or hired your first employee. Now what? I mean, is there a book, a manual or instructions? There are guides to the best methods for leading leaders and developing new leaders everywhere. But which one do you start with?

This is a definitive guide that will not only discuss how you as the leader can influence others but it will help you build meaningful relationships and develop future leaders. We are pulling the curtain back, like The Great and Powerful Oz. Honestly, it’s not so secret. Let me give you the first lesson. You need to hear it a few times. YOU cannot want it more than they do. Let’s say that again. You can only lead the horse to water - you cannot make them drink. They must want it just like you did. However - I do share with my clients - don’t give up. They may not want it now…but want it later. You have to be patient with them. Let them see how you are developing others. They will watch your moves. Trust me.

I want to give credit where credit is due. I wouldn't be the the Navy Chief I was (however once a Chief always a Chief), without all the Chiefs before me and those who helped me crossover from being just another rank in the military to truly being a leader. I wouldn't have become this person here talking about leadership without using his "laws". We studied the workbook/book from John C. Maxwell, 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. This episode discusses many of his principles but in my own words.

Here are just a few of the strategies we are discussing today:

-influence others

-credibility

-loyalty

-be the example

-inner circle

-professional/personal development

I, personally, feel that this method to leadership encompasses all the qualities a leader should have. I am always working to be better leader and I love helping others rise to the same peak so that when I am no longer here - I have a legacy of leaders who are ready to take on the world just like I wanted to.
