Ever wanted to know what it takes to build and sustain a women's rugby club in a male-dominated sport? This episode offers an intriguing conversation with Lindsay from the Rockers Rugby club. She takes us through the journey of the club, which was started 46 years ago by a group of women determined to have their own team. Today, the club not only maintains a senior women's squad but also runs a co-ed junior program, nurturing the future talent in rugby.
Our conversation also turns to the club's unique partnership with Taste of Edmonton, a culinary event where the rugby club volunteers in exchange for financial support. Lindsay shares the joys of this arrangement, from providing stage security to sampling Edmonton’s finest cuisines. We also discuss the challenges faced due to COVID-19, especially on recruitment and retention of rugby players. Hear Lindsay’s personal story about her transition from being a player to serving as vice president on the club’s executive board. This is an episode packed with insights about the growth and success of women's rugby in Canada, you don't want to miss it!
