This week’s podcast hosted by Sean Price of Velez Managed Services is with the podcast king Marc Sumner CEO of Robertson Sumner and Channel Chat Media.

In this episode Sean and Marc get into the recruitment industry and how Covid-19 has impacted recruitment and businesses around the world, identifying those who have flourished and tarnished. Speaking about how the people and industry do not get a lot of recognition, as some may see recruiters as “flesh peddlers”.

We hear a lot about the year 2020, how it was such a tough year that affected the world, but we are reminded that behind these big businesses are people, many of whom were made redundant, some even sadly lost their life due to Covid-19. In the year of 2020, we are yet again reminded of how important mental health is, as mentioned suicide rates in the UK increased throughout the duration of Covid-19.

“70% of their staff have signed off due to mental health” - We get Marc’s thoughts on how the pandemic has effected “The Channel” and the IT industry, revealing many businesses have not made the leap and adapted to the new way of productivity. But many staff throughout all industries have also struggled with the pandemic as coming into the office was a massive part of their social life.

However, Sean and Marc both discuss about how 2022 will be a fantastic year in the IT industry and in everyday life. At the moment in the UK Coronavirus guidelines have been lessened, Sean mentions his thoughts on people craving for normality, seeing other people and interacting with them. In this weeks episode we highlight the “zoom fatigue” that occurs during virtual meetings and interviews and the eagerness seen of people wanting to get back to the work place not just for productivity but for mental wellness.

“if you talk about it it’s a dream, if you vision it its possible, but if you schedule it, it becomes real”- Marc Sumner referencing his favourite quote from Tony Robbins.
