Evolving means accepting your new persona – but how do you feel comfortable with your new self, how do you shed layers of guilt that still cling to old responsibilities.

Learn how to embrace an evolving role and throw off your identity crisis in this empowering, punchy episode of Coaching Conversations….

Time Code/Show Notes

0.26 Intro: Business coach experts Nick and Chris unwrap the common thought processes behind the tradie – business transition…

1.50 Shifting the mentality of guilt. It’s time to grow and change - there are no excuses. To paraphrase Nick ‘stop being a baby, the world will still function without you in your previous role’

2.25 The first critical point is ALL relationships need to end. If you’re feeling guilty that you’re not on the tools and evolving to the next level, that perception of yourself must dissolve quickly.

Identifying the relationship with yourself is VITAL. Your previous relationship with your business must end for you to grow and evolve; you must ignore external noise and others’ expectations.

Do you identify as the guy in the steel-capped boots and high vis… have you traditionally hated being ‘in the office’… does the shift give you pangs of identity crisis…. STOP this internal monologue.

7.00 The second critical point involves identifying your worth to the business. When you transition away from where you are now, it has to make economic sense to do so. Remember, when you’re on the tools, taking calls, placing orders, it’s impossible to be in six places at once before something gives.

9.10 Understand your value to the business and `stop taking trips to Bunnings for glue’ – that view of busyness is directly opposed to improving the margins on your next quote.

10.45 The third point is powerful. Ask yourself, where are you headed as a business.

What are your goals, how can you scale the business, do you have a vision to see your family more… what are the logistics to achieve this…

Feeling guilty is detrimental to EVERY vision. Make space so you can grow into your new role. Delegate. Free yourself up to move forward.

15.25 De-program the internal voice that says ‘if you want a job done right, do it yourself’.

16.00 If you’re feeling guilty about NOT being on the tools; if you’re having a hard time reconciling the new `professional you’, reach out to ask@upcoach.com.au to understand how evolving demands acceptance.

EPISODE SUMMARY

If you’re feeling guilty about not being on site right now… here’s the takeaway..

Remember that all relationships need to end – or transition. That means YOUR relationship with YOUR business.

Figure out what you are worth to your business - and can your role be achieved more cost-effectively.

Ask yourself, where do you fit into the business; you must have a clear vision of your new role to make it work.

And one more time…. Stop feeling guilty. It’s self-sabotaging - get off the tools and feel okay about it.
