Holy – His Name – Luke 1:26-56
In our culture today, Mary is looked upon in two extremes. Either she is exalted highly and Jesus takes second place, or she is dismissed and not esteemed as she ought to be. As we see in today’s Passage, Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, she exclaimed loudly, “Blessed [worthy to be praised] are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord would come to me?”

Gabriel instructed Mary and announced the birth of Christ.

Gabriel told Mary, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you [like a cloud]; for that reason, the holy (pure, sinless) Child shall be called the Son of God.”

Mary submitted to the Lord and by faith trusted the word of Gabriel.

Mary by Divine guidance, traveled quickly to Zacharias and Elizabeth’s house. There, she was also inspired by Elizabeth with words of affirmation.

Elizabeth surprised Mary and acknowledged her as “the Mother of my Lord.”

Mary gave all praise and honor to the Lord. She knew the One she was carrying in her womb was her Savior! Her desire was to magnify the Lord.

Mary recognized this wonderful thing God had done for her. She gave great attention to His holiness.

Mary looked into the future and proclaimed – “God’s mercy on those who fear Him, from generation to generation.” This is includes us, our generation! Ephesians 2:4-10

Mary looked to the saints of the past and recalled God’s Divine Faithfulness to them!

Mary closed her song/prayer with joy and eternity on her mind.
