Today’s West Coast Cookbook & Speakeasy Podcast for our especially special Daily Special, Metro Shrimp & Grits Thursdays, is now available on the Spreaker Player!
Starting off in the Bistro Cafe, the Supreme Court has pulled an “infuriating stunt” in delaying a decision in the South Carolina gerrymander case.
Then, on the rest of the menu, two Los Angeles Times reporters attacked by Minnesota state troopers will settle a lawsuit with the state for $1.2 million dollars; the Smithsonian’s Latino museum settled with an affirmative action foe who sued over “pro-Latino discrimination;” and, new boundaries for Detroit-area seats in the Legislature were approved by a federal three-judge panel who found the old map was illegally influenced by race.
After the break, we move to the Chef’s Table where a British financial trader who manipulated a key interest rate before and after the global financial crisis, lost his appeal to have his conviction quashed; and, hundreds of protesters in Slovakia formed a human chain around the country’s public television and radio building over a takeover plan by the populist, pro-Russia prime minister.
All that and more, on West Coast Cookbook & Speakeasy with Chef de Cuisine Justice Putnam.
